He started in sales, with Nissan Motors of America, where he consistently held the highest closing ratio and customer satisfaction scores in the region. He was recognized for his achievements and was promoted into the new car managers position where he hired new sales staff and trained them. Once again, he excelled beyond expectations by achieving all sales goals, which resulted in a promotion to General Manager. In addition to his automotive industry experience, Jerry sold electronics and restaurant equipment for Edwards Equipment Co. out of Asheville, N.C. and owned an Insurance business. Continuing his insurance expertise, Jerry was a national marketing director for Southeastern Insurance Group, offering new insurance products to thousands of licensed professional agents in the Southeast.

Most recently, he managed a motorcycle dealership where he established a strong relationship with the North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Program. While there, he aligned his dealership with the state of North Carolina to sell beginner bikes for new riders to go through the state's safety training program.

He also proudly served four years in the United States Navy as a ship's surface swimmer. His primary job was Quartermaster (navigation) and he was a master helmsman. As a master helmsman, he was responsible for driving the ship in stressful navigation situations.

His philanthropic endeavors include giving back to the children's home where he grew up by teaching them how to farm and the value of a good work ethic. In addition, he started a youth mentoring program at the children's home, providing riding gear, helmets, chest guards, and apparel for those who wished to learn to ride. Jerry is a proud Christian, husband, Father and Grandfather.
